Vehicle number W.51367 is a Driving Motor Brake Second (DMBS), built by Pressed Steel Co. at Linwood near Paisley, and delivered to the Western Region in March 1960 to BR lot number 30546.  It is fitted with two B.U.T/Leyland 680 6-cylinder horizontal type diesel engines of 150bhp and weighs in at 36 tons.

Seating capacity is for 65 passengers with side doors at each seating bay as class 117's were built for suburban services that required passengers to be able to get on or off the train as quickly as possible.  The vehicle formed set L205 + 429 / 117429, and was withdrawn in February 1993.  It started its life in preservation at the Northampton Steam Railway where it was delivered in September 1994.  At this time it was partnered with Class 108 Driving Trainer Composite M.56495.

The vehicle left the Northampton Steam Railway for the Strathspey Steam Railway on the 14th of June 2005.
