Accomodation – Spey Lodge

If you’re coming to work on the railway for a couple of days or more, the Strathspey Railway Association runs Spey Lodge. Built by the LMS as a railwayman’s hostel to serve the adjacent engine shed, the Lodge still fulfils its original function by providing very reasonably priced accommodation for volunteers.

Over the years the Lodge has been progressively refurbished by the railway’s volunteers and offers excellent facilities. Communal areas are centrally heated using a modern biomass boiler.

The kitchen is fully equipped with fridges and freezer, as well as full cooking facilities, plus laundry. There’s also a small shop selling tinned goods and snacks.

Each of the rooms has a heater and hooks to hang your gear on. All we ask is that you bring your own bed linen, pillowcase and of course sleeping bag.

A shower and washroom are available in both wings.

A TV lounge with Freesat and a selection of videos, DVDs, and magazines is available. However, you’ll usually manage to find someone to go to the pub if you wish!
